CAVALIERS OF FUN

Cavaliers of Fun push all the right buttons for Summer Synth Pop. Effortless vocals and seriously some of the best production I’ve heard in ages. Expecting massive things in 2010. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.

CAVALIERS OF FUN – SECRET GALAXIES
THE TEENAGERS – FEELING BETTER (CAVALIERS OF FUN REMIX)

HOLY GHOST! // BLUE OYSTER CULT

Bacardi B – Live have commission yet another blog hero and notcoolyet favourite – Holy Ghost! – to once again retouch the rock classic from Blue Oyster Cult. Cow Bell jokes aside, this track is AMAZING …
Whilst Vanshe took the track “back to the future” with their epic synth work, Holy Ghost! have returned it back to its psychedelic roots with a smooth cosmic disco number complete with their trademarked echoed claps, vintage synth bleeps and enough delayed cow-bell for Bruce Dickinson.
Served best with Prins Thomas’ diskomiks of ‘You’ll Disappear’ by The Phenomenal Handclap Band or a bit of ‘Man of Magic’ by Social Disco Club.
Thank god its Friday.
BLUE OYSTER CULT – (DON’T FEAR) THE REAPER (HOLY GHOST! REMIX)
THE PHENOMENAL HANDCLAP BAND – YOU’LL DISAPPEAR (PRINS THOMAS DISKOMIKS)
SOCIAL DISCO CLUB – MAN OF MAGIC

HOT CHIP // I AM NOXIOUS

Hot Chip has a new album coming out (number 4) to be released 1 February and we’re expecting, as usual, big things. ‘One Life Stand’ is a pretty laid back “geek pop” type of track with a depeche mode type of feel. It’s certainly worth a listen although personally I’m hoping for some more upbeat material (like the epic remix of ‘Shooting Stars’ that Cassian has delivered of late). As far as a Synth Pop prediction for 2010? hmmmm I’m heading with I AM NOXIOUS …
ALSO:
BAG RAIDERS – SHOOTING STARS (CASSIAN REMIX)
ALAN BRAXE & FRED FALKE – RUBICON
I AM NOXIOUS – LOVE IS A STRANGER
BERTIE BLACKMAN – BLACK CATS (CALLING IN SICK REMIX)

HEY CHAMP // THE SOUNDS

Hey Champ need no introduction around here – Suffice to say we post all of their material as soon as we get our grubby hands on it (which is not as quick as some but hey, we have day jobs). Check out their site right now where you can download a Remix Tape which includes a reworking of Passion Pit, Kool Kids and The Sounds. Funky guitar licks & warm synths = the perfect Summer soundtrack.
THE SOUNDS – BEATBOX (HEY CHAMP REMIX)
HEY CHAMP – NEVEREST (RAW MAN REMIX)
ALSO:
JUMP JUMP DANCE DANCE – DO IT FOR LOVE

DON DIABLO // SCANNERS

Don Diablo must be the hardest working man in Amsterdam – he drops a bomb in my inbox on a weekly basis … this time he takes on the new single ‘Salvation’ from the UK indie folk outfit Scanners. The result is a solid indie dance number with a thumping bass guitar and a haunting breakdown. Keep an eye out for Australian dates including the massive Summerfield festivals.
SCANENRS – SALVATION (DON DIABLO REMIX)
ALSO:
HOT CHIP – TOUCH TOO MUCH (FAKE BLOOD REMIX)
MINITEL ROSE – CONTINUE (MAETHELVIN REMIX)
WE HAVE BAND – HONEY TRAP (LE MATOS REMIX)

WAVES MACHINES

For those interested in Saturday morning chill tunes – I’m trying to work out where Wave Machines fit in. They don’t. Can I call it Synth Folk? Should I compare to Junior Boys and Hot Chip? Maybe a “calypso” MGMT. Certainly not but something like that – clearly massive in any case.
WAVE MACHINES – I GO I GO I GO

BOY CRISIS // WALLPAPER

Boy Crisis have certainly copped their fair share of criticism – seems that some people get confused with the whole fusion of R&B, Rock and Electro (ummm Block Party anyone)? No doubt it’s the whole “hipster attention whore” thing that rubs people the wrong way … I guess that happens when you’re dating a NY fashion designer. Anyway, I’ve had this Wallpaper remix on all week and I can’t get enough. Seriously. I die.
BOY CRISIS – FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH (WALLPAPER REMIX)
